HMOs: The Essence of Breast Milk HMOs, or Human Milk Oligosaccharides, are the most abundant bioactive components in breast milk and the third largest solid nutrient, following lactose and fat. They are also the key differentiating nutrients between human milk and the milk of other mammals.
